Jess Bakalyar ’98 (Wrestling) -- Two-time All-American, finishing second at 150 pounds in 1997 and seventh at 158 pounds in 1998 … Won MIAC title at 158 in 1998 … Finished his career with an 80-18 record, including a 34-6 mark his senior year and 31-7 record in 1996-97 … Member of Augsburg teams that won D-III national titles in 1995, 1997 and 1998, second in 1996.
Jess Bakalyar, class of 1998 … Jess Bakalyar earned All-American honors twice as a three-season member of the Augsburg men’s wrestling team, earning NCAA Division III national runner-up honors at 150 pounds in 1997 and finishing seventh at 158 pounds in 1998. He finished his collegiate career with an 80-and-18 record, finishing 31-and-7 in his junior year and 34-and-6 in his senior year, winning the MIAC individual championship in 1998. He was a key member of Auggie teams that claimed the school’s first back-to-back national championships, in 1997 and 1998, while finishing second in 1996. Bakalyar was a marketing and management double-major at Augsburg, while minoring in management information systems, earning his bachelor’s degree in 2000. Since graduating, he has worked in the medical sales field with various companies, and currently lives in Senoia, Georgia.
