Peterson was a part of a very successful Augsburg teams in two sports – as a member of Augsburg’s first national championship team, the 1978 NAIA national title team in men’s hockey, and as a member of the 1975 MIAC championship team in baseball. He earned All-MIAC honors twice in both hockey and baseball and was a member of the NAIA All-Tournament Team in hockey in1978. He finished his hockey career with 153 points (72 goals, 81 assists), placing him seventh-best in school history in career scoring. As a freshman, he was 5-0 as a baseball pitcher, winning the game that clinched the 1975 MIAC championship. He earned baseball team Most Valuable Player honors in 1978. Peterson was Augsburg’s Senior Honor Athlete in 1978. Since graduating from Augsburg, Peterson worked for five years at Minnesota Mutual Life before moving to Colorado in 1983 and joining Aspen Airways, now Air Wisconsin (United Express). He has been based at the Aspen Airport for the past 20 years, and has also been a partner with Pitkin Portage, the Skycap Company at the Aspen Airport, for the past 15 years. Peterson and his wife, Barbara, have two children, Nilsse and Stina, and live in Carbondale, Colorado.
