Roback participated in football, baseball (captain) and track while at Augsburg. He served as defensive coordinator on the Auggie football staff from 1995-2001 and 2006-2007  and was the offensive coordinator in 2002.  He taught and coached football, basketball, baseball, track and girls tennis in the Anoka-Hennepin School District 11 for 34 years – 8 years at Anoka and 26 years at Coon Rapids. Roback was the offensive coordinator of the 1983 Coon Rapids Class AA state football championship team plus seven conference championship teams. He played professional baseball for one year in the Minnesota Twins organization. In 1984, he was recipient of the Butch Nash Award, the first year it was presented by the Minnesota Football Coaches Association for outstanding work by assistant coaches. Roback and his wife, Pat (Augsburg Grad ’65) live in Champlin, Minnesota, and have four married children; Paul, Jill, Joni, and Peter and nine grandchildren.
