Beatty made history for Augsburg’s wrestling program, becoming the first Auggie to ever win two national titles. He claimed the NCAA Division III national title at 134 pounds in 1988 and at 142 pounds in 1990. Beatty is one of just five Auggies to ever earn four All-American honors, as he finished second at 126 pounds in 1987 and fourth at 134 pounds in 1989, while also competing at the NCAA Division I national championships twice. He was one of 11 MIAC wrestlers to ever win four conference titles. Beatty was part of Auggie squads that finished in third place nationally in 1989 and second place in 1990, and his 149-14 career record included just three losses to NCAA Division III opponents. A health and physical education major, Beatty was selected as Augsburg’s co-Senior Honor Athlete in 1990. He also served as an assistant coach for the Auggie wrestling team after his career ended, and was on the coaching staff for Augsburg’s first NCAA Division III national title team in 1991. Since graduation, he helped to start two companies -- Fairway Dairy and Ingredients, an agricultural commodity trading company; and Twin Cities Power, an electricity trading company. He is currently the owner and president of Fairway Dairy and Ingredients. He also works with AmericanHelper, a nonprofit that serves children in need in the Philippines, and serves as a volunteer coach at area high schools. Beatty and his wife, Cheri, have three children -- Johnny, Carlie and Chloe -- and live in Lakeville, Minn.
