Evans played four seasons of men’s hockey at Augsburg as a forward on four MIAC championship teams, in addition to being on teams that won NAIA national championships in 1981 and 1982. In 116 career games at Augsburg, Evans was a part of Auggie teams that totaled a four-year record of 95-19-2. As one of the top goal-scorers during his career, Evans earned All-MIAC Honorable Mention honors during his junior and senior seasons. Following his playing career at Augsburg, Evans signed a pro hockey contract in Norway, where his team won the Norwegian League Series and national championship. After his professional hockey career ended, Evans spent 25 years working with IBM and Wells Fargo in government relations. In 2010, he was appointed by Gov. Mark Dayton to the Minnesota Amateur Sports Commission, where he works to promote the economic and social benefits of sports throughout the state. Evans continues to be active in hockey and travels to Norway every year to work in hockey schools. He has helped sign numerous Minnesota hockey players in various European countries, including Norway, Sweden and Germany. A political science major and a communications minor, Evans was named to the Dean’s List during his academic career. Evans and his wife Joan, a 1983 Augsburg graduate, have three children -- Kristian, Anna and Erik -- and live in Golden Valley, Minn.
