Earned team letter and pin in 1964 for basketball participation, Nelson also participated in intramural tennis, volleyball, badminton, softball, bowling and golf while at Augsburg. She taught health and physical education for 7^th through 11^th grade for many years in different communities. From 1960-68 she worked part-time coaching for the Minneapolis Park Board. Nelson is active in fundraising with Human Growth Foundation.
