Kevin Schiltz, Class of 1993 … Kevin Schiltz was a dominant upper-weight wrestler for the Auggies in the early 90s, earning three All-American honors and qualifying for national tournament competition all four years. He finished third nationally at 190 pounds in 1989, fifth at 190 in 1990 and sixth at heavyweight in 1993. He was a four-time MIAC champion as well, earning the honor three times at 190 pounds and once at heavyweight. He won 30-plus matches all four years of his Auggie career, finishing with a 150-28 career record. He was a member of Auggie wrestling squads that won NCAA Division III national titles in 1991 and 1993, while finishing second in 1990 and third in 1989. Kevin was also a member of Augsburg’s football team, starting as an offensive and defensive lineman for two seasons, while being named and was a team captain in both sports. He graduated with a degree in health and physical education in 1993, and moved with his wife Susan to Virginia, living there for several years while Susan pursued her doctorate degree. He was a wrestling coach at the University of Virginia for two seasons. The family returned to Minnesota, and Kevin has been on the athletic department staff at Saint John’s University since 2000, serving as a wrestling assistant coach and department equipment manager. Kevin and Susan have two teenage boys -- Aidan and Zack -- and they enjoy traveling, hunting and fishing. The family lives in Saint Joseph, Minnesota.
