Kristen Lideen will be remembered as one of the best defenders in two sports -- softball and soccer -- in Augsburg history. On the softball diamond, Lideen was a stalwart at the plate and in the field, considered the top shortstop in program history. Lideen finished her 122-game career hitting .444 (175-of-394), the lone Auggie to ever hit .400 or better in their career. Her 38 career doubles remain a school record, while her .602 slugging percentage is second-highest, her 175 hits are third-most and her 237 total bases are fourth-most. Augsburg's leadoff hitter throughout her career, she had a .497 on-base percentage with 41 walks, six doubles, four home runs, 46 RBI and 44 stolen bases. Her 18 doubles and 89 total bases in 2003 are both single-season school records.
Lideen closed her career with a unique streak, not striking out in either her junior or senior seasons -- a streak of 205 plate appearances and 185 at-bats in a row, and two of just five individual campaigns without a strikeout in Augsburg softball history. The first of just three players in Augsburg softball history to earn All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference first-team honors all four years of their careers, Lideen became the sixth Auggie to ever earn National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III All-America honors in 2003. He earned NFCA All-Midwest Region first-team honors in both 2003 and 2002, and second-team honors in 2001.
In soccer, Lideen played a key role as a sweeper -- the last line of defense for an Auggie backfield that recorded a 1.04 goals-against-average in her four seasons (2000-02, 04). Teams she played on went 35-32-3 in her four seasons, including a 21-13-1 mark her final two years. Lideen earned All-MIAC Honorable Mention honors in 2000, 2001 and 2002, and scored two goals with three assists for seven points in her career. The daughter of Dave and Kaye Lideen, Kristen was a philosophy major at Augsburg, and has been working as an office manager for various companies since graduating. Kristen and her wife, Augsburg alum Jackie Keller '08, were married last year, and they live in Richfield, Minn.
