Kristin Dragseth Wiersma transferred to Augsburg after spending her first year at UW-La Crosse, and became one of Augsburg’s top middle hitters in volleyball. She was an All-MIAC honorable mention selection in 1989 and earned both All-MIAC and Academic All-MIAC honors in 1990, which was a rare double award at the time, and was a further honor because her senior season was cut short due to an ACL injury. Kristin remains in the top 10 in school history in three career statistical categories, ranking fourth with a 2.89 kills per-set average, sixth with a .259 attack percentage and eighth with a 3.38 digs per-set average. She was a team co-captain in 1990 and served as an assistant coach for the Auggies in 1991. After graduating from Augsburg, Kristin began her career as a social worker. She married her husband Hans in 1992 and the couple lived in the Netherlands, California and later Germany, before settling back in Minnesota. She worked in marketing for a family communication consulting and media production business for many years, later buying the business and leading the company through major change. In 2012, she was recruited by Kairos and Associates, a national consulting firm working with non-profits and churches. She serves on several nonprofit boards and is active with her congregation. Kristin and Hans have four children -- Jake, Elianna, Marielle and Garret -- and live in St. Paul, Minnesota. They love to travel, especially enjoying the Rocky Mountains of western Montana.
