Ziemann played both basketball and baseball at Augsburg. He was captain of the men’s basketball team his senior season and for baseball was starting pitcher on the MIAC championship team his junior season. Graduating as a mathematics major and physical education minor, he went on to teach math and coach in Paynesville, Minnesota from 1960 to 1964 and Marshall, Minnesota from 1964 to 1976. Two of his teams made it to the State Tournament in 1970 and 1974. Ziemann was an Agency Compliance officer for Guardian Life and Park Avenue Securities for ten years. Since 1978, he has been working in financial services. He and his wife Jean have two children, Jay and Suzanne who were both Augsburg graduates, and live in Scottsdale, Arizona.
