Considered one of the top goalies in the history of the Augsburg women’s hockey program, Sawyer was a two-time All-MIAC honoree (1998-99 and 1999-2000), and earned AWHCA second-team All-America honors in her junior season. Sawyer was the starting goalie on two MIAC regular-season championship teams, including the 1999-2000 team that reached the first-ever Division III national tournament, the AWCHA Division III national championship series in Boston, Mass. Sawyer earned All-Tournament Team honors at the 2000 national tournament, and served as team captain during both her junior and senior seasons. In 54 career games against varsity opponents (official school records), Sawyer had a 31-18-2 record, with a 3.22 goals-against-average and .899 save percentage. She ranks first in school history in career wins, second in career shutouts (7), third in career saves (1,484) and fourth in career save percentage. Sawyer also participated in softball and golf during her four years at Augsburg. A business administration major, Sawyer was a Regents and Community Service scholar, and served in the student-athlete mentor program and Fellowship of Christian Athletes Leadership team as a student. Sawyer is currently employed at the chief communications officer for Youth Encounter, a Christian non-profit organization that specializes in youth events and ministry opportunities. She recently served on the Augsburg A-Club Executive Board and has helped coordinate the annual Augsburg Clair Strommen A-Club Golf Tournament. Sawyer and her husband, Jim, have one son, Robbie, and reside in Lino Lakes, Minn.
