Mel Lee has spent her entire adult life as a member of the Augsburg athletics family, first as an outstanding softball student-athlete, and now as a beloved coach and administrator. Augsburg’s Senior Honor Athlete in 2004, Mel started all 141 games of her softball career, developing a reputation as one of the best third basemen in school history. She earned All-MIAC honors her senior year, all-conference honorable mention honors twice, and NFCA All-Midwest Region honors her sophomore season. She hit two-ninety-six in her career with 50 runs scored, 40 RBI and 26 extra-base hits. She was stellar on defense, finishing with a school-record 367 career assists and a nine-sixty-two career fielding percentage. She earned Academic All-MIAC honors and NFCA Scholar-Athlete honors three times each. Mel also played basketball for two seasons as an Auggie. Mel was a health and physical education major at Augsburg, and later earned her master’s degree in organizational leadership and sports management from Concordia-St. Paul. She has taught and coached at Augsburg since graduating, moving from assistant coach to head coach for the Auggie softball team in 2017. She also serves as an associate athletic director at Augsburg, and is one of the hardest working and devoted individuals in the athletic department. A native of Randolph, Mel lives in Robbinsdale, Minnesota.

Has served as an HPE instructor and athletic department administrator at Augsburg since 2004 ... Augsburg softball assistant coach from 2004 to 2016, head coach since 2017.
