Mike Pfeffer was one of the top lightweight wrestlers in school history. Mike was an MIAC champion, two-time conference runner-up, and earned All-American honors in 1992 with an eighth-place at the 126-pound weight class. During his Auggie career, he was a member of teams that finished with an overall dual meet record of 58-2, including three consecutive years that the team did not lose a dual match. Pfeffer was a member of Augsburg’s first NCAA National Championship team in 1991 and was captain of the 1992 team that finished as NCAA Division III runner-up. He finished his career with 123 victories, including a then-school-record 49 pins and 120 near-falls. In addition to his accolades on the mat, Mike was selected as Augsburg’s Men’s Honor Athlete in 1992. Mike graduated from Augsburg with a major in biology, and went on to receive his Doctor of Chiropractic in 1996 from Northwestern Chiropractic in Bloomington. Mike and his brother Peter established a chiropractic practice, which has been successful for more than 19 years and is now affiliated with Healthsource Chiropractic and Progressive Rehab, one of the top franchises in all of health care. Shortly after returning to Alexandria, Mike joined the Alexandria Fire Department and has completed 17 years as a volunteer fireman. Mike and his family enjoy hunting, fishing, lake activities and attending sporting events in which his sons participate. Mike and his wife Heather, reside in Alexandria, Minnesota with their three sons, MacKenin, Teagan and Treyton.
