    Distinguished Athletic Service Award
One of the most gregarious individuals on the Augsburg campus, Minasie Theophilos has been a beloved presence to Augsburg coaches and student-athletes for more than a quarter-century. A custodian working in Augsburg's athletic facilities, Theophilos has grown close to several Auggie teams, in particular the men's hockey team, joining the team's weekly Bible study and traveling often to road games.

Theophilos came to Augsburg as a student in 1983 from his native Ethiopia, and had not been able to return to his native land for more than 30 years. In 2017, after the death of his mother, the men's hockey team initiated a GoFundMe campaign to fund a trip for Theophilos to see his family, who now live in Norway. In a short amount of time, the team raised more than $7,500 for the trip, and presented the money to him in the team's locker room prior to the Auggies' 2017 NCAA Division III national tournament run. Theophilos and his wife Yeshimebet have three grown children, two of whom graduated from Augsburg.
