Augsburg University Athletics

Hoplin played basketball for three years at Augsburg and was team captain in 1950 and a member of the 1949-50 championship team. She earned the Women’s Honor Athlete Award. After graduating from Augsburg, she played basketball for the Minneapolis VFW team that advanced to the 1953 National Tournament. In 1954, Hoplin contracted polio and after regaining use of limbs, expanded on her Home Economics minor by sewing and becoming member of North Star Quilters Guild.  She has taught many quilting classes and has been commissioned to design and sow many specialty items for use in her community of Buxton, North Dakota, the state of North Dakota, and in Washington, D.C.
