A three-time All-MIAC first-team selection in men’s soccer, Olson was a key member of Auggie squads that won MIAC championships in 1973, 1974, and 1975, with a record of 39-7-2 over those season. The squads also made NAIA regional tournament play each of those seasons. He was a team captain his senior year. After graduating, he worked for a bank and supermarket, eventually beginning what has been a 28-yearcareer at General Mills. He started as a retail representative in the consumer foods sales division and later moved to Rapid City, S.D., as a territory manager. In 1986, he returned to the Twin Cities to a position in space management and category management. He has also served his communities as youth soccer coach, Sunday School teacher, church councilmember, bell choir member and as a community block captain. He and his wife, Caren, have two daughters, Kristin and Shannon, and live in Bloomington, Minnesota.
