Philip Lundin

Co-captain of the 1973 Auggie football team and a participant on the Auggie track and field team, Lundin was a key member of several of Augsburg’s best football teams in school history, including a 7-2 record in 1973. That year, Augsburg closed out its season with a 28-20 win over St. John’s, the first time the Auggies had beaten the Johnnies in 13 years. Since graduating from Augsburg, Lundin moved into coaching, teaching and coaching at Burnsville High School from 1974-86 and at the University of Minnesota, where he was a men’s track and field assistant coach from 186-95 and currently is the men’s track and field head coach. Lundin’s Gophers won the Big Ten outdoor championship in 1998 (for the first time since 1968) and indoor title for the first time ever, and Lundin received both the indoor and outdoor track Big Ten Coach of the Year honors. Lundin lives in Apple Valley, Minnesota.
