Rachel Ekholm was one of the best all-around players in the history of Augsburg’s softball program. As a pitcher, she earned All-MIAC honors three years and was named an NFCA All-Region selection twice. She pitched in 96 games in her career, with 39 victories, 12 shutouts and 80 complete games, to go along with a 2.45 earned run average and 347 strikeouts. Rachel currently holds the school record for career shutouts, is second all-time in strikeouts, and is on the top-10 list in seven other single-season and career pitching records. She was just as dominant at the plate, hitting .389 in her career. She still holds the school career records for home runs with 18, triples with 16, RBI with 98, total bases with 254, and a .681 slugging percentage. Her 11 home runs in 2012 remains a single-season school record. Rachel was a physical education major at Augsburg, and since her Auggie days ended, she has continued to participate in athletics, umpiring and coaching baseball and softball, while also continuing to play adult softball. She currently works as a warehouse and inventory specialist for a small business. Rachel has one son, Anthony, and her family includes parents John and Renee, brother Jim and sister-in-law Dee, and six nephews and a niece. Rachel lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
