Stensrud was a team captain for football and was voted team’s Most Valuable Player. His sophomore season he was named All-Conference honorable mention by both the Minneapolis Tribune and St. Paul Pioneer Press. His junior and senior season he was an All-Conference selection and was named Augsburg Honor Athlete in 1955. After graduation, Stensrud became Assistant Principal at Cooper High School.
