Robert Anderson, Class of 1996 … Robert Anderson made history for Augsburg in his senior season, becoming the first Auggie football player to ever earn All-American honors. The defensive lineman was named the MIAC’s Mike Stam Award-winner, as the conference’s lineman of the year, in 1995. Robert set school records for sacks, both in a single season with 14, and in a career with 28-and-a-half. He was the team’s co-captain and earned the team’s Defensive MVP and Outstanding Lineman honors his senior season. He was named a first-team All-MIAC honoree in 1995 and a second-team honoree in 1994. He says his greatest highlights in his career were beating Concordia at their homecoming after the paper guaranteed a win and having five sacks in a game against St. Thomas, when he was severely ill. Robert was a communications major with a history minor, and later earned Six Sigma certification from Villanova University. After graduating from Augsburg in 1996, he has worked around the world in the software industry as a sales director, working in Singapore, Germany, China, New Zealand, Austria and Australia. Robert and his wife Laura have been married for six years and recently moved from their home in Bonita Springs, Florida, to Minnesota.
