Augsburg University Athletics

Olson was a member of the famed “Auggiettes” women’s basketball teams in the late 1950s and early 1960s, teams that dominated Minneapolis Park Board play and contests against other Twin Cities colleges during the era. Olson was a member of the 1956-57 Auggiettes squad that was inducted as a team into the Athletic Hall of Fame in 2007. She was an Honor Athlete selection in 1960, and served in the Augsburg Mission Society. Olson was a physical education major at Augsburg and graduated in 1960. She taught physical education, health and social studies at schools in Blooming Prairie and Pipestone, Minn., and also serve as a junior high school secretary and sports liaison between junior and senior high schools. Olson has also been active as a worker in numerous sports, including wrestling, volleyball, track and field and gymnastics, and has also been active in her church and as a member of the American Association of University Women. Olson and her husband Lyle, live in Faribault, Minn. They have two children, Joel and Kathryn.
