A three-time All-American wrestler at Augsburg, Kennedy finished third in the NAIA national tournament in 1982, second in the NCAA Division III national tournament in 1983 and won the Division III national title at 150 pounds in 1984, when he was named the team’s Most Valuable Wrestler. A team co-captain his senior year, Kennedy finished his career with a 104-10 record, winning 40 matches each in his junior and senior seasons. He also won titles at the prestigious St. Cloud State Invitational three times. Augsburg teams he competed on finished seventh in the NAIA national tournament in 1983 and second in the NCAA Division III national tournament in 1984. He competed his first collegiate year at Willmar Community College. A communications major at Augsburg, Kennedy worked in the real estate business for a year-and-a-half, and later joined his brother Dean’s company, Texakoma, in 1986. He is currently senior vice president of sales and marketing at Texakoma. Kennedy and his wife, Rene, have five children – Austin, Preston, Noah, Mason, and Kendal – and live in Plano, Texas.
