Taunya Tinsley was one of the top players in the history of the Augsburg women's basketball program. She is one of only six players in Augsburg women's basketball history to score more than 1,000 career points. As a forward/center, she currently is listed in 19 single season individual and career school record lists, including standing third in school history with 1,130 career points. Taunya was a first-team All-MIAC selection in 1988-89 and twice scored 34 points in a single game, which is currently ranked tied for third-most in school history. She also played one season of volleyball for the Auggies. Taunya graduated from Augsburg with a major in Business Management and a minor in Economics. She went on to earn her Masters degree in higher education administration/college student development as well as a Ph.D in Counselor Education and supervision as well as a certification in Missional theology. Taunya is currently enrolled in the D.Min program with a focus on sports chaplaincy from United Theological Seminary in Dayton Ohio. She is currently a licensed Professional Counselor and owner of Transitions Counseling Service LLC and Life Skills Program. Dr. Tinsley is an Associate Professor in the department of counselor education and program coordinator for the graduate certification in Sports Counseling at California University of Pennsylvania. Her experiences include working with high school and college athletes as well as the National Football Foundation, National Football League and Pittsburgh Steelers to provide services to student-athletes as part of the Play It Smart Program and the Academics in Motion Program. Tauyna currently resides in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
