Pham was a member of Augsburg’s nationally successful wrestling program and served as an assistant volleyball coach under Hall of Fame coach Marilyn Pearson Florian during his college years. Pham was named Augsburg’s head coach in 1999, and served as co-head coach with Ryan Dehnel in 2000. In 2003, Pham was named head coach at MIAC rival St. Thomas. In 11 seasons with the Tommies, his teams have won nearly 300 matches, won seven MIAC titles and advanced to the NCAA national tournament eight times, with a winning percentage of nearly 82 percent. In 2012, the Tommies won the NCAA Division III national championship, going 40-1 en route to the title, the first for an MIAC school in volleyball. He has earned MIAC Coach of the Year honors three times and has coached five MIAC Players of the Year, including current Augsburg head coach Jane Becker. Pham and his wife Stefanie have one son, Tae.
