A three-year letterwinner and team captain as a member of the Augsburg men’s basketball program, Theisen is widely considered one of the top high school boys basketball coaches in the state of Minnesota as the head coach at Osseo High School. During his playing career at Augsburg, Theisen was named the Auggies' defensive MVP twice, and recorded two triple-doubles during his senior season. After graduating from Augsburg with a degree in social studies and elementary education in 1993, Theisen has served as a teacher and a coach in the Osseo School District for the past 18 years. In 2003, Theisen was named as the head boys basketball and golf coach at Osseo. During his 10 years as head coach at Osseo, Theisen has compiled an overall record of 232-61, and has lead the Orioles to seven conference championships, four section championships, two state runner-up finishes, and one state championship. In 2012, Theisen led the Orioles to a 30-2 overall record and Class AAAA state championship title -- the school’s second state championship since 2001. Following the 2012 state tournament, Theisen was named as the Minnesota High School Coaches Association Coach of the Year. A social studies teacher at Osseo High School, Theisen and his wife, Kristen, have two sons -- Zach and Alex -- and reside in Maple Grove, Minn.
