Tina (Kubes) Peterson, Class of 1992 … Tina (Kubes) Peterson was a dominant volleyball player for the Auggies in the early 90s, earning second-team All-MIAC honors in 1991 and first-team All-MIAC honors in 1992. She produced impressive numbers as an outside hitter, with 301 kills in 1990, 289 in 1991 and 285 in 1992. She was voted as the team’s MVP in 1991 and was a multi-year captain. She closed her career fourth all-time in school history in kills, with 967, third in attack attempts with 2,957, seventh in kills per-set, eighth in digs with 1,192 and 10th in digs per-set. She was also a member of Augsburg’s women’s basketball team in the 1988-89 season. A health and physical education major at Augsburg, Tina graduated in 1992 and moved to Alaska, where she taught and worked for a law firm. She returned to Minnesota in 1994 and landed a teaching job in the New London-Spicer school district, where she has now taught and coached for 23 years. She coached volleyball for six years, earning state tournament consolation honors in 1998. She also coached track for six years, training the hurdlers and high jumpers, including a state champion hurdler. Tina and her husband, Lance, have three teenage children -- Blake, Ari and Ellary -- and Tina says that the family enjoys many activities, including traveling, attending Minnesota Wild games, and life at the lake. The family lives in Willmar, Minnesota.
