Weidner was an outstanding linebacker for the Auggies in the early 1980s, earning All-MIAC honors in both 1982 and 1983, while earning All-MIAC honorable-mention honors in 1981. In 1982, he was named the team’s Most Valuable Player, after recording 74 tackles, a fumble recovery and two interceptions. He served as team captain his senior season and repeated his team MVP honor, recording 94 tackles, including 11 for loss and three sacks, with a fumble recovery and an interception. He also was a member of the Augsburg men’s basketball team. Weidner earned his bachelor’s degree in political science in 1984 and received his law degree from the William Mitchell College of Law in 1990. He began his law practice in Stillwater, Minn., with the Eckberg Lammers law firm, where he has served as a partner since 1994. He has practiced personal injury law and criminal prosecution for more than 20 years, and is active in the Minnesota State Bar Association and Minnesota Board of Governors. He recently received the Bar Association’s Award for Professional Excellence for his involvement in representation of victims of the I-35W bridge collapse. He was also selected by his peers as a “Super Lawyer” in Minnesota Law and Politics and Minneapolis-St. Paul magazines. He serves as a volunteer coach for youth athletic teams in the St. Croix Valley area and serves on several community volunteer boards and committees. Weidner and his wife, Tracey, have two daughters -- Madeline and Natalie -- and live in Stillwater.
