Lake Forest (Ill.) completes sweep with 3-2 win over Augsburg.

MINNEAPOLIS (11/9/02) -- Emily Blegen (Fr., Elk River, Minn.) scored two goals and Lindsey Wild (So., Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) had two assists, leading Lake Forest College (Ill.) past host Augsburg College (Minn.) 3-2 in a nonconference women's hockey game Saturday afternoon at the Augsburg Ice Arena.

Blegen scored two goals in a 3:35 span early in the third period to give the Foresters the lead and the win, improving to 2-0-0 with a sweep of the series with the Auggies. Augsburg drops to 0-3-0.

Lake Forest outshot Augsburg by a 35-19 margin, including a 12-8 edge in the first period and a 16-4 edge in the second.

The Foresters scored first, when Nicki Paquette (Fr., Moncton, New Brunswick) notched her second goal of the weekend at the 5:12 mark of the second period on assists from Andrea Richmond (Fr., Enfield, N.H.) and Catherine Norton (Fr., South Boston, Mass.).

Augsburg tied the game on an unassisted goal from Corrie Krzyska (So., Fridley, Minn.) at the 1:47 mark of the third.

But at the 5:02 mark, Blegen scored her first goal of the game, on assists from Jordi Ralph (Fr., Carp, Ontario) and Wild, then followed it up at the 8:37 mark on a feed from Wild. Blegen had three goals on the weekend.

Augsburg cut the lead to one goal at the 19:48 mark, when Lauren Chezick (So., Hastings, Minn.) scored her second goal of the weekend on an assist from Annie Annunziato (Jr., Commack, N.Y.). But the Auggies couldn't get the equalizer in the closing minute with an extra attacker.

Theresa Taylor (Jr., Spartanburg, S.C.) made 17 saves to claim her second win for the Foresters. Kristin Johnson (So., Minnetonka, Minn./Wayzata HS), making her second career start in goal for the Auggies, made 32 saves.

Augsburg opens Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play next weekend with a two-game series against St. Thomas. The Auggies play at St. Thomas' home rink, Parade Ice Arena in Minneapolis, on Friday (11/15) at 7 p.m., then host the Tommies on Saturday (11/16) at 2:05 p.m.

Lake Forest finishes its trip to Minnesota on Sunday (11/9) at 2 p.m., with a game at Hamline at the State Fair Coliseum in St. Paul, Minn.
