Lake Forest (Ill.) completes sweep with 3-2 win over Augsburg

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (11/13/05) -- Courtney DeHoey scored two power-play goals, including the eventual game-winning goal early in the third period, leading Lake Forest College to a 3-2 victory over visiting Augsburg College and a sweep of the nonconference women's hockey series with the Auggies on Sunday afternoon at Alumni Memorial Rink.

All three Forester goals came on the power play, as they went 3-for-6 with the player advantage in improving to 4-1-0 on the season. Augsburg, which was limited to 1-8 on the power play, fell to 0-3-0 overall.

DeHoey scored on the power play at the 11:41 mark of the first period, and Laura Wilson added a power play goal at the 3:54 mark of the second. DeHoey's power-play marker at the 6:25 mark of the third period proved to be the game winner.

Caryn Quist (Fr., St. Cloud, Minn./Cathedral HS) scored her first collegiate goal at the 6:55 mark of the second period, a power-play tally from Britt Pennington (Sr., St. Cloud, Minn./Tech HS). Jackie Keller (So., Traverse City, Mich./Traverse City West HS) scored from Quist at the 17:29 mark of the third period.

Augsburg outshot Lake Forest by a 23-18 margin, including a 12-5 advantage in the third period. Amanda Bockmann (So., Wind Lake, Wis./Muskego HS) made 15 saves for Augsburg, while Jess Zublin made 21 saves for Lake Forest.

Both teams open conference play next weekend. Augsburg has a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference series against Hamline, with Friday's (11/18) game at 7 p.m. at Drake Ice Arena in St. Paul and Saturday's (11/19) game at 2:15 p.m. at the Augsburg Ice Arena. Lake Forest opens Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play with a two-game home series against Finlandia (Mich.), on Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m.
