MINNEAPOLIS (11/10/07) -- With four different players scoring goals and eight different players figuring in the scoring, the Lake Forest College women's hockey team claimed a 4-2 victory over host Augsburg College in a nonconference contest on Saturday afternoon at the Augsburg Ice Arena.

Lynn Switaj (FY, Avon Lake, Ohio) had a goal and an assist, while Ricki Kirsch (FY, Portland, Ore.) had two assists for Lake Forest (1-1-0 overall).

Tiffany Magnuson (JR, Green Bay, Wis./Notre Dame HS) and Jackie Keller * (SR, Traverse City, Mich./Traverse City West HS) scored goals for Augsburg (0-3-0 overall), both assisted by Jess Olson (SO, Hamel, Minn./Wayzata HS).

Lake Forest outshot Augsburg by a 34-29 margin. Alyssa Wintermute (FY, Belmont, Ontario) claimed 27 saves in net for the win for the Foresters, while Toni Menth (SO, Buffalo, Minn.) recorded 30 saves in goal for Augsburg.

Lake Forest opened the scoring on Megan Patrick's (SO, Corunna, Mich.) first goal of the season, just 2:56 into the contest, from Sam Pinsonneault (SO, Manchester, N.H.) and Naomi Paterson (SO, Ingersoll, Ontario). But Augsburg tied the game in the final second of the opening frame, as Magnuson scored a power-play goal from Olson.

The Foresters scored two power-play goals in the second period, a tally from Maggie Bresser (SO, Fond du Lac, Wis./Waupun HS) with assists to Switaj and Kirsch at the 2:29 mark and a Switaj goal, assisted by Kirsch, at the 14:59 mark.

Augsburg cut the lead to 3-2 at the 18:05 mark, as Keller scored on a blast from the right point, assisted by Olson. But Lake Forest clinched the win at the 7:21 mark of the third period, as Courtney DeHoey (SR, Chatham, Ontario) scored from Jen Clouthier (SR, Aurora, Ill.).

Both teams open conference play with their next contests. Augsburg faces St. Olaf in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference series, with next Friday's (11/16) game at 7 p.m. in Northfield, Minn., and next Saturday's (11/17) game at 7:05 p.m. at the Augsburg Ice Arena. Lake Forest opens Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play on Tuesday (11/13) at 7 p.m., with a contest at Concordia-Wisconsin.
