Women's Hockey 1/5/09 -- Lake Forest (Ill.) 8, Augsburg 1
LAKE FOREST, Ill. (1/5/09) -- Augsburg College scored the first goal of the game just 18 seconds into play, but Lake Forest College scored the next eight goals, including two by Sam Herron, in an 8-1 women's hockey victory in nonconference action on Monday afternoon at the Alumni Memorial Rink.
Herron had two second-period goals and added three assists for a five-point night for Lake Forest (7-4-1 overall). Melissa Kravich and Courtney Bean had a goal and two assists apiece.
Andrea Toft (JR, Alexandria, Minn./Jefferson HS) scored Augsburg's (0-10-0 overall) lone goal 18 seconds into the first period, assisted by Kali Holst (FY, Mound, Minn./Mound-Westonka HS).
Augsburg was outshot by a 46-35 margin. Grace Edgar (SO, Plano, Texas/Plano West HS) started in goal for the Auggies and had 27 saves in 35 minutes of action, before being relieved by Toni Menth (JR, Buffalo, Minn.), who had 11 saves.
Augsburg travels to Hancock, Mich., to take on Finlandia University in a two-game series on Wednesday and Thursday (1/7-8). Both games are at 7 p.m., at Finlandia.
