TOURNAMENT RESULTS
MENOMONIE, Wis. --
Brian Deuel (SR, Vadnais Heights, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) shot a career-best-tying 73 to lead the Augsburg College men's golf team to a sixth-place team finish at the University of Wisconsin-Stout Invitational on Tuesday at the Chippewa Valley Golf Course.
Deuel was one of seven Auggies to record scores in the 70s in the single-round event. Deuel's 2-over-par finish tied his career-best score of 73, first set in the 2009-10 season.
As a team, Augsburg's No. 1 team finished in a tie for sixth place with a 305 total, tying its best single-round score of the 2011-12 season. The Augsburg Maroon (junior varsity) squad finished in 10th place in the seven-school, 11-team tournament with a 329 total.
Terry Gibbons (SR, Westlake, Ohio) and
Zach Johnson (JR, Sartell, Minn.) each shot 77 to tie for 27th in the 55-player field, with Gibbons' score just a shot shy of his career-best 18-hole score.
Justin Popp (SO, Sauk Rapids, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice HS) finished in a tie for 33rd with a 78 total, and
Eric Aughinbaugh (SO, Fargo, N.D./Fargo South HS) finished with an 81 total.
For Augsburg Maroon,
Ryan Lundeen (FY, Cambridge, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti HS) shot a career-best 76 to tie for 25th, while
Drew Bahl (FY, Preston, Minn./Fillmore Central HS) finished in a tie for 36th place with a 79 total.
Silas Alberty (FY, Eagan, Minn.) and
Tucker Williams (SR, Roseville, Minn.) each shot 87.
Augsburg finishes its 2011-12 season this Sunday and Monday (4/22-23) at the Gustavus Adolphus Spring Invitational at the Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan, Minn., and the Le Sueur (Minn.) Country Club.
