TOURNAMENT RESULTS

MONTICELLO, Minn. -- Shooting a career-best 1-over-par 143, Augsburg College men's golfer Zach Johnson (JR, Sartell, Minn.) finished in a tie for 10th place at the St. John's University Spring Invitational on Sunday at the Monticello Country Club.

Johnson competed as an individual in the single-day, 36-hole event. He shot a career-best 18-hole score of 71 in the first round, followed by a 72 in the second round for his career-best 36-hole total of 143 -- a four-stroke improvement over his previous 36-hole best.

He tied for 10th place in the competitive 89-golfer event, which included 19 golfers with scores of 145 or less and nine golfers with scores of even-par 142 or less. The tournament medalist, Devin Holmes of Division II St. Cloud State, won with a 7-under-par 135 (66-69).

Johnson finished his junior campaign with the best year of his career, claiming a 75.9 stroke average and .770 (690-206) win-loss percentage. His 75.9 stroke average is the best season average for an Auggie men's golfer since Erik Helgerson finished with a 75.83 stroke average in the 2006-07 season. He had seven of the team's eight lowest individual rounds, and 11 of the lowest 15 rounds, this season. Eighteen of his 21 rounds this season were in the 70s.
