MOORHEAD, Minn. -- With eight different players figuring in the scoring, the No. 6-ranked Augsburg University men's soccer team capped one of its best regular seasons in school history with a 6-0 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference triumph at Concordia College-Moorhead on Saturday afternoon.

THE BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Augsburg 6, Concordia-Moorhead 0
LOCATION: Jake Christiansen Athletic Complex, Moorhead, Minn.
RECORDS: Augsburg 16-1-2 overall (7-1-2 MIAC), Concordia 0-13-4 overall (0-9-1 MIAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg outshot Concordia by a 23-3 margin in the game, with goalkeeper Christian Hodges (FY, New Albany, Ohio/Tree of Life Christian School) making one save to claim his 12th individual shutout of the season, tying the Augsburg single-season school record for shutouts, previously set by Pascaul Venter in 2006.
Carver Tierney (SR, Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo HS) added to his Augsburg single-season goal-scoring record, scoring his 17th goal of the season in the 47th minute. He has now tied Darcy Debing for the Augsburg single-season point record with 39 points (17 goals, five assists). Debing scored 13 goals with 13 assists for 39 points in 1976.
Jacob Thao (JR, St. Paul, Minn./Champlin Park HS) scored his first two collegiate goals in the 71st and 87th minutes for the Auggies.
• Mitchel Munzing (SR, Portland, Ore./Grant HS) and Diego Veit (SR, Vina Del Mar, Chile/Centro Educacional de Adultos Rafael Sotomayor) had a goal and assist each, and Dailan Bangu (SO, Mankato, Minn./Mankato East HS) scored the final goal of the regular season for the Auggies. Augsburg outscored its opponents by a 53-12 margin in the regular season.
Gideon Lubin (FY, Princeton, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro North HS) had two assists for Augsburg.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• Augsburg's 16 victories are now tied for the program's single-season school record, a 16-5-1 campaign in 2010 that saw the Auggies win the MIAC playoff title and advance to the second round of the NCAA Division III national tournament.
• Augsburg has recorded double-digit victory campaigns in four of the last five seasons under 22nd-year head coach Greg Holker.

QUOTES FROM AUGSBURG COACH GREG HOLKER
• "There isn't a year I can remember that all the MIAC games on the final day had zero ability to influence the playoff positioning or standings. It felt weird knowing everything was settled, but I am glad our guys still marched on and got the job done responsibly. There will be very little change in our NPI so we should stay in the top three in the nation overall heading into the MIAC Playoffs."
• "Christian Hodges tied Pascual Venter's single-season record for shutouts with his 12th clean sheet of the year. Had I left him in the game for the final 19 minutes against Northwestern, he'd have 13 at this point. Pretty impressive for a rookie campaign. He's only conceded 12 all year in 19 games -- with five of those coming against Saint John's in our only loss. I will be interested to see how he approaches Monday's rematch."
• "Carver tallied another very quickly to start the second half, bringing his single season tally up to 17 and creating some space in the record books. Jacob Thao scored two very different goals today as well -- one from a corner that he hammered from the top of the box, and another guilt ridden tap in when their GK fell and dropped one to his feet. Gideon Lubin was twice the provider on our goals from corner kicks with Dailon scoring the other."
• "I thought Eric Riera and David Riera both looked sharp today, and although they didn't get involved in the scoring, they were instrumental in helping us keep the ball on that very difficult surface."
• "With the playoff season starting Monday, we know it's one and done from here on out -- time to connect a full season of preparation to the games that matter most. To wrap up the regular season at 16-1-2 with 53 goals for and 12 against is impressive, though. That was pretty fun preparation."

FOR THE FOES
• Jack Solheid had seven saves in goal for Concordia.

UP NEXT
• The No. 3 seed in the six-team MIAC postseason playoffs, Augsburg will host No. 6-seed Saint John's in a quarterfinal game on Monday (11/3) at 5 p.m. at Edor Nelson Field. The Johnnies handed the Auggies their only loss of the regular season, a 5-2 decision on Sept. 30 in Collegeville, Minn.
