Jeremy Nelson (Augsburg '05) enters his fourth season as an assistant coach for the Auggies in 2013.
Playing Career/Acheivements:
One of the top pitchers for the Auggies throughout his career, Nelson earned All-MIAC honors in both 2004 and 2005, and was named to the Rawlings/ABCA All-Midwest Region third team his senior campaign, when he helped to lead the Auggies to their first-ever berth in the MIAC postseason playoffs.
As Augsburg's No. 1 pitcher throughout his career, Nelson showed continual improvement throughout his four seasons. His earned-run average went down from 6.54 his freshman year to 2.99 this year, and his record also improved, leading to his career-best 8-3 mark his senior season. He finished his career with a 19-19 record in 44 appearances (43 starts), with 124 strikeouts against just 53 walks and a .299 opponent batting average. His career ERA was 4.12.
A marketing major, Nelson earned Dean’s List honors and was an Augsburg Student-Athlete Mentor. He was named one of Augsburg’s Male Athletes of the Year in 2005.
