MIAC MEN'S FIELD ATHLETES OF WEEK
MINNEAPOLIS -- Augsburg College men's track and field athletes
Michael Harley (FY, Sugar Hill, Ga./Stillwater (Minn.) HS) and
John Spray (FY, Mount Dora, Fla./Mount Dora Bible HS) were named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Co-Men's Field Athletes of the Week, it was announced on Monday.
In Augsburg's season-opening competition at the
Wisconsin-Stout Warren Bowlus Open on Saturday, Spray and Harley both recorded 1.89-meter (6-feet, 2.25-inches) efforts in the men's high jump, breaking the old indoor school record of 1.86 meters (6-feet, 1.25-inches), set by Luke Trees in 2001. Spray also finished 10th in the long jump with a 5.88-meter (19-feet, 3.50-inches) effort on Saturday.
So far this indoor season, the duo's height in the high jump is tied for the
second-best among MIAC athletes, according to the RaceberryJam website. The NCAA Division III National Championships provisional qualifying height in the men's high jump is 2.02 meters (6-feet, 7.5-inches).
Augsburg returns to action this Saturday (2/4) at the Bethel University Invitational.
