MIAC INDOOR TRACK ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
MINNEAPOLIS -- Augsburg College men's track and field sprinter
Rick Wolke (SR, Belle Plaine, Minn.) was named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, it was announced on Monday.
Wolke claimed two individual event victories at the
St. John's University Invitational on Saturday, winning the 60-meter dash in a personal-best 7.02 seconds, while winning the 200-meter dash in 22.54 seconds. He was also part of a 1,600-meter relay squad that claimed an event win in 3:31.89.
Wolke's 200-meter time is currently the
fastest among MIAC athletes, while his 60-meter dash time is second-fastest. Wolke also has the 12th-fastest time in the conference in the 400-meter dash (51.91 seconds). His 60-meter dash time is currently tied for 35th-fastest among NCAA Division III sprinters nationally.
It is the third time Wolke has earned MIAC Athlete of the Week honors, after earning the honor twice last year -- once as an individual, the other as part of a relay. In his Auggie career, Wolke has earned All-MIAC individual and relay honors four times, including
last year's conference title as part of the outdoor 400-meter relay. He has earned All-MIAC honorable-mention individual and relay honors eight times. He qualified for the
NCAA Division III outdoor national championships in both the 200- and 400-meter dashes in 2010.
The Auggie men's track and field team competes at the St. Olaf Tostrud Classic this Saturday (2/18).
