Auggies take down UW-Stout in five

MINNEAPOLIS -- Colleen Ourada (SR, Omaha, Neb./Mercy HS) led the Auggies with 17 kills on their way to a five-set win over UW-Stout in a nonconference volleyball match on Wednesday.

FINAL SCORE: Augsburg def. UW-Stout 3-2 (25-12, 15-25, 25-18, 18-25, 15-9)

RECORDS: Augsburg 7-2, UW-Stout 5-2

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Auggies jumped out to an early lead and never looked back in set one, but the Blue Devils countered with a dominant set two victory. The teams then traded 25-18 scores for sets three and four before Augsburg secured its victory in the fifth set by a score of 15-9. Ourada added 18 digs to her 17 kill performance for another kill-dig double double, while Ashley Peper (JR, Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS) finished with 14 kills and seven digs. 
• DeeDee Maier (SO, Middleton, Wis.) has become a defensive and serving specialist for the Auggies early in the 2014-15 season. Maier recorded three services aces against the Blue Devils, while also chipping in 17 digs. Mackenzie Menke (SR, Prior Lake, Minn./Shakopee HS) followed up her All-Tournament team performance this past weekend with a 20 dig performance Wednesday evening as well. 
• Courtney Lemke (SO, Brownton, Minn./Glencoe-Silver Lake HS) led all-players with 46 assists in the match, and added seven digs, two blocks and a service ace. Jessica Lillquist (JR, Sebeka, Minn.) is a consistent threat in the middle for the Auggies as she recorded nine kills. 


BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• Ashley Peper was last week's MIAC Volleyball Hitter of the Week and is currently the individual leader in the conference in kills per set with 3.69, and second in total kills with 118.
• Colleen Ourada and Mackensie Menke are both fifth in the conference in their respective categories. Ourada in total kills with 81, and Menke in digs with 143. Ourada is also second in blocks per set with 0.92
• Courtney Lemke is currently third in the conference in assists per set with 10.34.
 

FOR THE FOES
• Morgan Denny led all players with a season-high 18 kills, while Laura Reiter finished with 14 kills. 
• Karley Wiensch dished out 45 assists for the Blue Devils.

• Augsburg travels to compete in the Gustavus Adolphus Invitational and starts with UM-Morris on Friday (9/12) at 2 p.m.
