Egbujor earns 2 All-America honors at NCAA nationals

10875WAVERLY, Iowa -- Emmanuel Egbujor (FY, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Champlin Park HS) became the second Augsburg College men's track and field athlete to earn multiple All-American honors, earning two spring honors on Saturday at the NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships at Wartburg College's Walston-Hoover Stadium.

Egbujor finished fifth in the 100-meter dash finals with a 10.98 second performance, then finished third in the 200-meter dash with a 21.90-second effort on Saturday. He improved seven spots from his No. 12 seed in the 100-meter dash and nine spots from his No. 12 seed in the 200-meter dash. He was the lone first-year athlete to earn a spot in the 200-meter finals, while he was one of just two first-years in the 100-meter finals.

Combined with his third-place finish in the 60-meter dash at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships in March, Egbujor earned three All-American honors this season, joining Mathew Shannon, who earned three All-American honors in 2003 and 2004, as the lone Auggie men's track and field athletes to earn multiple All-American honors. Augsburg men's track and field athletes have now earned eight All-American honors in program history.

Egbujor earned four Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships and six U.S. Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association All-Central Region honors in his inaugural collegiate campaign. He set school records in the indoor 60-meter dash (6.84 seconds), outdoor 100-meter dash (10.63) and outdoor 200-meter dash (21.46) this season.
