2016-17 MIAC MEN'S HOCKEY AWARDS
MINNEAPOLIS -- Five members of the back-to-back Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference playoff champion Augsburg College men's hockey team earned conference postseason honors, it was announced on Tuesday.
Forward
Corbin Chapman (SR, Burnsville, Minn.) earned All-MIAC honors for the third straight year, while forward
Nate Flynn (JR, Hastings, Minn.) and defender
Rory Vesel (SR, Rochester, Minn./Lourdes HS). Goalie
Nick Schmit (SO, Fargo, N.D./Fargo North HS) earned All-MIAC Honorable Mention honors, and defender
Max Pernhem (JR, Stockholm, Sweden/Dragonskolan) was named to the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team.
The five Auggies have been key players in Augsburg's run of success over the past several years. Under 11th-year head coach
Chris Brown, Augsburg repeated as MIAC playoff titlists this season, earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III national tournament. The Auggies are 17-4-6 overall, 9-2-5 in MIAC play, and will face
St. Norbert (Wis.) in an NCAA playoff quarterfinal game on Saturday, March 18 at 7 p.m. in De Pere, Wis.

Chapman stands second on the team in scoring, with 11 goals and 15 assists for 26 points, including three power-play goals and two game-winning goals.
Among MIAC players in overall statistics, Chapman stands tied for sixth in total points, tied for seventh in goals and tied for eighth in assists.
He has recorded a goal or assist in 17 of his 25 games played this season, including seven multi-point games. He scored two goals in
Augsburg's 3-2 MIACÂ playoff championship game victory at St. Thomas on Saturday. In his 97-game career, Chapman has 35 goals and 49 assists for 84 career points.

For the second straight year, Flynn leads the Auggies in scoring, with 15 goals and 14 assists for 29 points, including two power-play goals and three game-winning goals. He currently stands second among MIAC players in overall points, tied for third in goals and tied for 10th in assists.
He has recorded a goal or assist in 18 of his 25 games this season, including nine multi-point games. He is currently on a six-game point streak, with three goals and seven assists for 10 points in the span. In his 79-game career for the Auggies, he has 39 goals and 30 assists for 69 career points.

Vesel has recorded a power-play goal, along with a team-best 18 assists, for 19 points this season. His 18 assists are tied for third-most among all MIAC players in overall statistics, and are second-most among MIAC defenders. His 19 points are third-most among MIAC defenders.
He has had a point in 13 of his 27 games, including a four-assist performance in Augsburg's 8-4 win over Wisconsin-Superior on Nov. 3. In his 105-game Augsburg career, he has 13 goals and 44 assists for 57 points.

Schmit transferred to Augsburg from Wisconsin-Stout this season, and joined teammate
Jordyn Kaufer (SR, Stillwater, Minn.) as one of the most formidable goalie duos in the MIAC. In 14 games (12 starts) this season, Schmit has a 10-1-2 record, 2.01 goals-against-average and a .935 save percentage (371 saves on 397 shots). He leads the MIAC's overall statistics in all three goalie categories (GAA, save percentage and winning percentage), with his 10 wins tied for second-most among MIACÂ goalies.
Among NCAA Division III goalies nationally, Schmit stands fourth in winning percentage, ninth in save percentage and 14th in GAA. In 29 collegiate career games (26 starts), he has a 14-8-5 record, 2.79 GAA and .917 save percentage (816 saves on 890 shots).

Pernhem was named to the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team, as part of the conference's sportsmanship initiative. Members of the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team are selected by their coaches and teammates as individuals who demonstrate ideals of positive sportsmanship both on and off the field of competition.
Pernhem has recorded four goals with 11 assists for 15 points this season, including a goal in the Auggie playoff win over St. Thomas on Saturday. He has 10 goals and 22 assists for 32 points in his 64-game Auggie career.
