2017-18 GCAA DIVISION III/PING ALL-REGION TEAMS
MINNEAPOLIS -- Five Augsburg University golfers earned postseason honors from the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference for their accomplishments during the 2017-18 season, it was announced by the conference office on Wednesday.
For men's golf, Auggie
Brett Buckingham (SO, Glenwood, Minn./Minnewaska Area HS) was named to the 16-member All-MIACÂ team for the second straight season, and teammate
Harrison Cooper (SO, Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley HS) joined him on the All-MIACÂ squad. AuggieÂ
Levi Hauser (FY, Raymond, Minn./Willmar HS) was named the MIAC's Freshman of the Year in men's golf, and
David Walker (SO, Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park HS) was named to the All-MIACÂ Sportsmanship Team. For women's golf, Augsburg's
Julia Mantey (JR, Anoka, Minn./Anoka HS) earned All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team honors. It's the first MIAC awards for Cooper, Hauser, Walker and Mantey.
Additionally, Buckingham earned a spot for the first time on the Golf Coaches Association of America Division III/Ping All-Region Team, as one of 15 selections from the Central Region.

Buckingham had one of the best seasons for an Auggie men's golfer in program history, finishing with a team-best 74.2 stroke average and .861 (534-86) win-loss percentage.
Among MIACÂ golfers, Buckingham finished in a tie for the fourth-best stroke average this season. In 44 rounds over the past two seasons, Buckingham has a 75.0 career stroke average and .815 (1,204-273) win-loss percentage.
Buckingham recorded seven top-10 finishes in his 10 events this season with two wins, including a share of medalist honors at the
2017 MIAC Championships, the fifth Auggie to earn MIACÂ medalist honors in program history. He finished with a score in the 70s in 18 of his 20 competitive rounds this season, including 14 rounds of 75 or better.
He also earned the 2017 MIACÂ Elite 22 Award for academic excellence in men's golf, given to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average among all-conference honorees at a conference championship in individual sports. Buckingham is a marketing major with a 4.00 GPA.

Cooper also had an outstanding sophomore season for the Auggies, finishing second on the team with a 74.9 stroke average and .802 (497-123) win-loss percentage. He had top-10 finishes in seven of his 10 events, including a win in the season-opening Augsburg Fall Invitational. He finished in a tie for sixth place at the 2017 MIAC Championships.
Cooper recorded scores in the 70s in 17 of his 20 competitive rounds this season, including a team-best 65 in the second round of the Augsburg Fall Invitational. He had 12 rounds of 75 or better. In his 44 competitive rounds in his career, Cooper has a 76.3 stroke average and .687 (1,015-462) win-loss percentage.

Hauser had an outstanding debut season for the Auggies, finishing third on the team with a 76.2 stroke average and .723 (399-153) win-loss percentage in 17 competitive rounds.
He had five top-10 finishes in his nine events, earning medalist honors in the final meet of the season for the Auggies, the Saint Mary's Spring Invitational. He finished in a tie for 21st at the 2017 MIAC Championships. He finished with scores in the 70s in 15 of his 17 rounds this season, with seven rounds of 75 or better.

Walker and Mantey were named to the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team, as part of the conference's sportsmanship initiative. Members of the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team are selected by their coaches and teammates as individuals who demonstrate ideals of positive sportsmanship both on and off the field of competition.Â
Walker finished sixth on the men's golf team in scoring this season, with a 79.7 stroke average and .435 (249-323) win-loss percentage. In 34 rounds in his two seasons at Augsburg, Walker now has an 80.9 stroke average and .347 (409-768) win-loss percentage.

Mantey had a 117.6 stroke average in seven competitive rounds this season for the Auggie women's golf team. A two-year competitor for the Auggies, Manety has a 118.8 career stroke average in 22 competitive rounds.
Under coach
Eric Rolland, Augsburg's men's golf team finished the 2017-18 season with a 300.4 team stroke average, third-best among MIACÂ teams. The Auggies had an .808 (84-20) win-loss percentage, with team wins in five events this season. The Auggies placed third at the 2017 MIAC Championships.
Augsburg's women's golf team finished the 2017-18 campaign with a 396.0 team stroke average this season, finishing 10th at the 2017 MIACÂ Championships.
