Maggie DeGroot (Augsburg ‘09), considered one of the top goalkeepers in school history, enters her second season on the Augsburg coaching staff in 2012.
Playing Career/Acheivments:
DeGroot shattered the Augsburg record book in the goalkeeping category, setting every career record -- wins (37-19-16), goals-against-average (0.68), shutouts (36) and win-loss percentage (.627). She appeared in 72 career games (out of 73 Augsburg played in her four seasons), claiming 401 saves with an .887 save percentage.
Each of her four seasons put her in the top-10 categories in single-season wins, goals-against-average, win-loss percentage and shutouts, including a single-season record 10 shutouts in both 2006 and 2008. Augsburg squads finished with winning records in each of her four seasons, including three trips to the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference postseason playoffs (2005, 2006, 2007).
DeGroot earned All-MIAC honors all four seasons -- first-team All-MIAC honors her junior and senior seasons, honorable-mention all-conference honors her first two years. She was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-Central Region second team in 2008, while also earning NSCAA/Adidas Division III Scholar All-Central Region honorable-mention honors.
At the 2009 Auggie Awards, DeGroot was named Augsburg's Female Outstanding Athlete of the Year. DeGroot was a health fitness major at Augsburg.
