Augsburg 42 St. Olaf 0

For the first time since 1981, the Augsburg football team blanked an opponent with its 42-0 drubbing of St. Olaf. Junior cornerback Andy Zigan and senior linebacker Bob Schultz led the defensive pressure for the Auggies. Zigan had eight tackles including one for loss; while Schultz had seven tackles and an interception for the Auggies. Sophomore free safety Jake Kern intercepted his fourth pass of the year, helping Augsburg grab three St. Olaf turnovers.

For the second straight week, an Auggie was named MIAC offensive player of the week. This week it was senior quarterback Derrin Lamker who was a model of efficiency, completing 30 of 46 passes with six touchdowns and no interceptions. Last week's MIAC player of the week, junior receiver Scott Hvistendahl, was on the receiving end of three of Lamker's touchdown passes. Hvistendahl and Lamker combined to set eight new Augsburg records during the game. Hvistendahl's 15 catches set a new school record for most catches in a game, and now Lamker is Augsburg's career leader in pass attempts.

Augsburg is now 3-1 overall, and 2-1 in the conference. This is Augsburg's best start since 1973, when the Auggies started out 5-0. That year Augsburg finished 7-2, the school's best record ever.
