MINNEAPOLIS -- St. Olaf College goalie P.T. Haider (Jr., Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial HS) stopped 55 Augsburg College shots Friday night, leading his Oles to a 2-2 overtime tie in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's hockey game Friday night at the Augsburg Ice Arena.
Haider did not give up a goal until late in the second period, when Trevor Tallackson (Sr., Detroit Lakes, Minn.) connected on a power-play goal. Andrew Shermoen (Jr., International Falls, Minn.) connected on his first collegiate goal at the 8:20 mark of the third period to knot the game and force overtime. Tallackson had a goal and assist in the contest, while Mario LeBlanc (Sr., Mackenzie, B.C./Prince George HS) had two assists for the Auggies.
Augsburg is now 6-1-2 overall and 3-0-1 in the MIAC, while St. Olaf goes to 5-4-1 overall and 0-1-1 in the MIAC. Augsburg has an eight-game unbeaten streak, going 6-0-2 in the stretch. Augsburg travels to Division I Bemidji State next Friday (12/18), while St. Olaf is off for the holiday break until a Jan. 8-9 series against Gustavus Adolphus.
Augsburg outshot St. Olaf by a 57-28 margin in the contest. Ryan McIntosh (So., Calgary, Alberta/Bishop Grandin HS) made 26 saves, including four in overtime as Augsburg's penalty-kill unit shut down an Ole power play in overtime.
Tim Legreid (So., Moorhead, Minn.) opened the scoring at the 1:26 mark of the second period, while Jake Johnston (Jr., Lakeville, Minn.) added an unassisted, power-play tally midway through the second stanza.
