Women's Basketball -- Concordia-Moorhead 85, Augsburg 53
MINNEAPOLIS - Concordia-Moorhead used a 21-0 first-half run to cruise past Augsburg College 85-53 in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball game Saturday afternoon at Augsburg's Si Melby Hall.
Trailing 7-3 in the first six minutes of the game, the Cobbers built a 21-0 run to take a 24-7 lead at the 6:37 mark of the first half. Concordia led 40-15 at halftime.
Brandi Myers (So., Glyndon, Minn./Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton HS) led the Cobbers with 18 points, four rebounds and four steals. Jill Brown (So., Hannaford, N.D./Griggs County Central HS) scored 13 points. Jaime Olson (Fr., Randall, Minn./Little Falls HS) had eight points and a game-high nine rebounds. Twelve of the 13 Cobbers who saw action scored in the contest.
Jill Ruprecht (Sr., Glendale, Wis./Nicolet HS) and Adrianne Tietz (Jr., Shakopee, Minn.) scored 14 points apiece to lead the Auggies. Tietz added seven rebounds.
The two teams combined for 53 fouls (Concordia 26, Augsburg 27) and 60 turnovers (Augsburg 36, Concordia 24).
Augsburg, now 0-2 on the season and 0-1 in the MIAC, travels to Gustavus Adolphus on Wednesday night, while Concordia, now 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the MIAC, plays at Carleton.
