Augsburg College 4, Wisconsin-River Falls 3
RIVER FALLS, Wis. -- Joe Fehn (Sr., Minneapolis, Minn.) had two goals, including the series-clincher midway through the third period, as the Augsburg College men's hockey team advanced to the NCAA Division III Final Four with a 4-3 victory over Wisconsin-River Falls in the second game of the national quarterfinal series at UW-RF's Hunt Arena.

Augsburg, now 21-6-4 overall, has won its last 14 games in a row and is 18-1-1 in its last 20 games. River Falls finishes its season 22-8-1. Augsburg will advance to the NCAA Division III Final Four for the second time in school history, the last coming in 1984, when the Auggies placed fourth in the nation. The national semifinal game will be on Friday, March 20, with the championship and third-place games played Saturday, March 21.

Augsburg will face two-time defending national champion Middlebury (Vermont) in a national semifinal game on Friday, March 20 in Plattsburgh, N.Y. Time of the game will be determined on Monday.

Trailing 2-0 entering the second period, Fehn put Augsburg on the board with a goal at the 2:00 mark. Todd Cary (Sr., Indianapolis, Ind.) tied the game at 2-2 with a blast with four seconds remaining in the second period. After River Falls took a 3-2 lead at the 10:29 mark of the third period, Fehn followed it up exactly a minute later with what was, in effect, the series-clinching goal to tie the game at 3-3.

Fehn's goal clinched the series, because all Augsburg needed to advance to the Final Four was a tie in Saturday's game, after winning the first game of the two-game (plus minigame, if necessary) series on Friday night. Trevor Tallackson (Jr., Detroit Lakes, Minn.) added an empty-net, power-play goal in the final minute to clinch the victory and begin the Auggie celebration.

Augsburg goalie Ryan McIntosh (Fr., Calgary, Alberta) scored his 12th victory in a row in improving to 14-1-3 on the season, saving 35 shots in Saturday's contest. For the second game in a row, River Falls outshot Augsburg, this time by a 38-29 margin.
