Game Summary:
MINNEAPOLIS (11/19/99) -- Sean Andrews (So., Vernon, B.C.) scored on an unassisted breakaway midway through the third period, which proved to be the winning goal in the College of St. Scholastica's 4-2 victory over host Augsburg College in a nonconference men's hockey game Saturday night at Augsburg Ice Arena.
The Saints improved to 4-3-0 on the season despite being outshot by a 36-24 margin by the Auggies, who dropped to 2-3-1 overall. The Saints notched two goals on eight shots in the second period, and two goals on just five shots in the third period.
St. Scholastica scored the first two goals of the game in a 21-second span, the first on a power-play tally by Phil McDonald (So., Owatonna, Minn.), the second from Scott Forrest (So., Cloquet, Minn.).
Jaroslav Cesky (Fr., Praha, Czech Republic) had both Auggie goals, one on a shorthanded lamplighter late in the second period and the other on an early third-period goal.
Josh Oyler (Jr., Lakewood, Colo.) added an insurance goal for the Saints on the power play with 1:21 remaining.
St. Scholastica goalie Kaleb Christenson (Fr., International Falls, Minn.) made 34 saves to pick up the victory, while
Ryan McIntosh (Jr., Calgary, Alberta/Bishop Grandin HS) made 20 saves in a losing effort.
Augsburg returns to action next weekend with a two-game nonconference series at Minnesota-Crookston. Games are 7:30 p.m. on Friday (11/26) and 2 p.m. on Saturday (11/27).
