Game Summary:
ROSEVILLE, Minn. (11/23/99) -- Renee DeMars (So., McGregor, Minn.) scored 24 points to lead a steady Northwestern-Roseville charge in the second half, overcoming a 38-36 halftime deficit to claim a 77-68 home win over Augsburg College in a nonconference women's basketball contest Tuesday.
DeMars was one of four Eagle starters to score in double figures in the win, as Northwestern improved to 3-2 on the season. Shereen Kramer (Sr., Stratford, Wis.) and Emily Olson (Sr., New Ulm, Minn.) had 15 points apiece, with Kramer adding 11 rebounds. Tracy Thielke (So., Hancock, Minn.) had 10 points.
Augsburg, now 0-2 overall, was outscored 41 to 30 in the second half. The Eagles used a 16-5 run over a five-minute span in the second half to claim a lead they would not relinquish the remainder of the game.
Jaime Kingsley (Jr., Harmony, Minn./Fillmore Central HS) led the Auggies with 16 points and seven rebounds.
Adrienne Tietz (Sr., Monticello, Minn./Shakopee HS) had 15 points and five rebounds, while
Rachael Ekholm (So., Richfield, Minn.) had eight points.
Augsburg returns to action on Saturday with a nonconference game at Wisconsin-Superior on Saturday (11/27) at 1 p.m., while Northwestern plays at Hamline on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
