Women's Basketball -- Augsburg 80, Bethel 66
ARDEN HILLS, Minn. (12/11/99) --
Jodi Soule (Sr., Cannon Falls, Minn.) scored a career-high 32 points, pulled down eight reounds and contributed four assists Saturday afternoon, leading Augsburg College to its first win of the year, topping host Bethel College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball game at Bethel's Robertson Center.
Soule had an amazing game, hitting 10-of-13 field goals and 10-of-16 free throws, nearly topping in one game her entire scoring output of last season (46 points) as a reserve guard.
Augsburg is now 1-5 overall and 1-2 in the MIAC, while Bethel drops to 2-3 overall and 1-2 in the MIAC. The win breaks a seven-game losing streak for the Auggies, dating back to last season.
Adrienne Tietz (Sr., Shakopee, Minn./Monticello HS) notched her first double-double of the year, with 15 points and 13 rebounds.
Rachael Ekholm (So., Richfield, Minn.) hit three 3-poitners to score 13 poitns, adding three assists and three steals.
Jaime Kingsley (Jr., Harmony, Minn./Fillmore Central HS) had nine points and eight rebounds.
Bethel was paced by Malia Siemon (Fr., Edina, Minn.), who had 17 points, 11 rebounds and five steals. Cara Battles (So., McGregor, Minn.) scored 17 points and had three steals, and Kristin Lundeen (Fr., Becker, Minn.) scored 11 points.
Both teams are off for the holiday break until Monday, Jan. 3 at 7:30 p.m., when Augsburg will host St. Mary's and Bethel will host Carleton.
