Game Summary:
WAVERLY, Iowa (9/20/99) --
Scott Dossett (So., Orono, Minn./Mound-Westonka HS) and
Dan Walker (So., Glenwood, Minn./Minnewaska Area HS) scored goals four minutes apart early in the second half, giving the Augsburg College men's soccer team a 2-1 victory over host Wartburg College in a nonconference contest Monday.
The Auggies trailed 1-0 on a goal in the 20th minute by Randolf Cooper (So., Tema, Ghana), which got past starting goalkeeper
Gustavo Quintiliano (Jr., Brasilia, Brazil/Mound-Westonka HS).
Morgan Davidsen (Sr., Holen, Norway), Augsburg's starting goalkeeper the last three seasons, got his first action of the season in the net in the second half.
Dossett scored his team-high fourth goal of the season on a pass from
Eric Roy (Sr., Coon Rapids, Minn.) at the 50:59 mark. Dossett then assisted on the game-winning goal by Walker at the 54:48 mark. The goal was Walker's second of the season.
The Auggies were outshot by the Knights 15-14 in the contest.
Augsburg hosts Bethel College in its Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opener on Wednesday (9/22/99) at 4 p.m. at Anderson-Nelson Field. Wartburg hosts Luther in an Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game Saturday (9/25/99) at 1 p.m.
